Ice Stars Coaches

Prince William Ice Center is the premier spot for skaters. Our coaches, listed below, are all insured professional members of US Figure Skating (USFS) and the Professional Skaters Association (PSA).

We are proud to offer both Private and Group instruction with these highly qualified coaches.

Please call 703-730-8423 and speak with our Skating Director Marina Khaltourina for futher information or email Marina at mkhaltourina@pwice.com. Lessons are arranged individually with the coach. Payments for ice time are due to Prince William Ice Center BEFORE the skater takes the ice for the lesson.

Laurie Bates

USFS Gold Medalist in Ice Dancing. Completed USFS tests in Silver Free Dance, Novice Freeskate, and 5th figure. Former Regional and Sectional competitor. 24 years teaching experience. Coached Ice Dance team to Jr. Nationals. Available to teach all ages and levels. (USFS, ISI, Basic Skills, Ice Dance, Freestyle, MIF, Power Stroking, Hockey Power Skating and Synchronized Skating). PSA ratings: BA, RD and master level sports science completed.

Mike Bazzone

Mike has 22 years of hockey experience. He has 11 years of experience as a player and 11 years of experience playing as a goalie. Mike played 4 years Varsity Hockey at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Mike had Division I scholarship offers to University of Connecticut and Quinnipiac University. He also spent 4 years training with the NHL goalies Jonathan Quick and Corey Schneider and players Brian Boyle and Ben Lovejoy. He has been coaching and doing private lessons since 2008. Mike is available to work with both players and goalies of all ages.

Katie Brennan

Katie has fifteen years of hockey experience. She started with PWHC then went on to play at the National Level. Katie also played in the Mid-West Elite Hockey League. Available to teach all ages. Currently a teacher in FCPS.

Mark Chapman

Chappy has been skating and playing hockey in the metro DC area for over 20 years. He played with RJ Ziegler at George Mason from 1999-2002, and is a USA Hockey level 3 official who refs more than 300 youth, high school, junior, college and adult hockey games annually. Whether you are just stepping out on the ice for the first time and need the basics, or have been playing hockey for a while and want to take your game to the next level, he can help! Areas of expertise: Power Skating, Hockey Shooting/ Passing/ Positioning, Referee Positioning/ Skating Techniques.

Rosemary Grant

Competitive skater for nineteen years. Competed in singles, pairs and ice dancing. Routinely competed in regional competitions such as Mid-Atlantics, North Atlantics and Easterns. Performed in shows on the east coast with the Ice Theater of New York. Available for all levels and ages. (USFSA, ISI, Freestyle, Ice Dancing, Pairs, Choreography and Moves in the Field).

Cheryl Haase

Cheryl has over 20 years of teaching experience and is available to teach all levels of Freestyle and Moves in the Field on both a competitive USFS and recreational ISI basis. Former Regional and Sectional USFS competitor. She is a member of USFS, ISI, and PSA. Cheryl is a USFS Category A certified coach and is PSA rated in both Freestyle and Moves in the Field.

Danielle Kelley

Danielle has 15 years of competitive figure skating experience in both freestyle and synchronized skating. She is a member of USFS, PSA, and ISI. Available to teach all ages and levels of Freestyle, Intro to Hockey, Moves in the Field, Choreography, and Off-Ice Training. Danielle holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from James Madison University.

Marina Khaltourina

Prince William Ice Center is honored to have Marina as its Skating Director.  1998 Olympian and 7-time Worlds and International competitor, Marina is available to teach all levels and ages on and off ice. She is certified by USFSA for coaching Freestyle, Pairs, Moves In The Field, Synchronized Skating and Choreography.

Angel Kirkbride

Angel is a PSA-rated and Regional level coach with over 15 years of competitive figure skating experience. She specializes in Freestyle, Moves in the field, Off- ice training and Hockey. She has participated in numerous PSA-sanctioned conferences. Angel is a participant in Olympic Coach, Audrey Weisiger’s Grassroots to Champions seminar. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education.

Georgia Meadows

Over 39 years of coaching experience.  Available to teach all levels and ages of skaters from beginners to advanced competitive Freestyle.  Accepted into the Ice Follies in 1970.  Taught physical education classes in figure skating for the University of Maryland.  Competitive skater in USFSA and ISI.  Member ISI, PSA & USFSA.

Chrissy O'Connor

Chrissy has 3 USFS Gold Medals: Moves in the Field, Dance (including 4 International Dances) and Free Dance. Also competed all over the United States and Europe for Miami University's Senior Synchronized Skating Team for 4 years, earning a National Title as well as an International Title. Has been teaching Moves in the Field, Dance and Freestyle for 6 years. Coach for the Capitol Steps Synchronized Skating Teams and is the Head Coach of the Intermediate Team this season. A member of USFS and PSA.

Connie Weiser

Connie is a USFS Gold Medalist in Figures, Freestyle and Dance and a Canadian Gold Medalist in Freestyle and Dance. She has 27 years experience in teaching all ages and levels. Connie has coached skaters through Regional and Sectional competitions. She is a member of USFS, ISA, and PSA, and is available to teach all ages and levels (USFS, ISI, Ice Dance, Freestyle, Moves in the Field).

Jennifer White

 Jennifer has been playing organized hockey since early childhood in Northern New York State. Played on all boys team until second year Pee-Wee level then transferred to all girls team. In 1992, her Midget Girls team won the New York State Championship who went on to compete in Nationals in Duluth, MN. As a Junior in high school, chosen to participate in Girls 17 select USA Hockey Player Development Camp held in St. Cloud, MN. In the late 1990's into the early 2000's, Captained the Prince William Wildcats, as part of the Mid-Atlantic Women's Hockey Leauge. Took a leave of absence to raise a family, now has a 5 year-old daughter who participates in the Pro Intensity Hockey Program at Prince William Ice Center

R.J. Zeigler

Coach Zeigler works with multiple cooperating programs in D.C. area all year round. In addition to his position of Head Coach and GM of the Potomac Patriots, Coach Zeigler leads two to three Washington All Star's teams, serves as Director of Hockey Operations for the Atlantic Storm, and is the Executive Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Prince William Panthers. These duties with various hockey associations are performed hand in hand with his full time position as Hockey Director for the brand new Prince William Ice Center.
